Great place, but there is almost never free parking. With such high taxes you'd expect some basic infrastructure, and while the library itself is really nice for all ages, the parking is lacking which should have been planned better
Alright, I love this library. I come here to study either with friends or individually. It is a very nice, quiet space. However, there was an instance with one of the locals who attends this library. I have heard there is a program in the library that helps mentally challenged people. (There is obviously nothing wrong with that by all means it must be helpful to them) one of the adults with special needs has followed me out of the library and followed me, up until the point where he was 10 feet away from me staring at me creepily. I walked back to the library and he followed me. Then he hid behind a pillar and CONTINUED to stare at me. I have never been so fearful in my life. I had to go back into the building and ask the front desk to call security. It was at that point the mentally challenged adult left me alone. So.. I guess the point I am trying to make is that this is a public library. All are welcome. However there are young children that go here, along with deranged people. And although there are programs to try to help these people, they are not very properly monitored, and I almost had a heart attack from this encounter. I really hope this improves, because I have no clue what would have happened if I had just ignored him. I'm 17, imagine it was your 10 year old that was all alone outside.
I've lived in Glenview now for over 10 years and I've never had a good experience at this library. The staff is very nit picky about what you do, its always too busy, staff is very loud and quite rude to say the least. My friends and I were sitting in a section with a TV, where you were able to play video games and watch movies, we decided to watch a documentary and were rudely told that it was only for video games, when I know for a fact other people have watched full movies in this space. I would rather go to the skokie library, when they are accepting of diversity, because I've had enough.
Great public library. I love this place. Very convenient to get books. They also have video games for Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. Very informative website that shows what you have out and when it is due back to the library. Very good internet and study rooms are good.
Love our local library and use it often! Solid assortment of books on cd, current in-print, and nice lounge area for sitting and reading. Thanks for all you do for the community!
