The Metra police are bullies. Id highly recommend focusing more on dangerous criminals over a few homeless people trying to stay warm. Show a little humanity
Please put some sign board on the platform so that passenger not local there can understand from which spot they can board train. It's annoying to see no employees in weekend and very difficult to me find the right spot to travel to Milwaukee.
Very lovely and picturesque setting. A picture from any angle or from any view would turn out like a beautiful calendar shot. Estimate that the 100+ year old train station was given several million dollar renovation to 100 year old grandure. Landscaping and period currect exterior lighting and roadway polished off. You know you've arrived some place special when you disembark here in beautiful Glenview Illinos.
Parking is very dangerous here. The parking spots are simply on the street, which is horrendously busy. If you have a vehicle larger than a minivan or small SUV, it will be difficult to park in the parking spots for this station as it will take multiple attempts to do it. There is a real parking lot on the east side of the station, but that is almost always full. Another real parking lot sits on the other side of Lehigh, but even if you have a valid parking permit, you still can't park there unless you are a resident of the adjacent neighborhood. Moreover, no Amtrak parking is allowed at the station either. To make matters even worse, reversing or backing into parking spots is not permitted.Metra and Amtrak do serve this station, but too bad it is at this station. I have heard that Amtrak wants to move their service stop to North Glenview. It is better for such to happen sooner rather than later.This is poor in all three ways.0 stars if you have to drive yourself to this station and are not a resident of the nearest neighborhood.Half a star if you have to drive yourself and ARE a resident of the nearest neighborhood (remember you will be eligible to park in the real parking lot off of Lehigh then).Exactly 1 full star if someone else gave you a ride to the station.Remember: The parking is for Metra only!
Nice location. Cool that it's surrounded by pretty beautiful land. This was great since it had both AMTRAK and METRA lines. We all could use a good train ride from time to time. So much better than getting on Amtrak in Union Station down in Chicago.
